ENDLESS WAVE – JAKE CASTER
What’s up Jake? How old are you and where are you from?
I am 18 years old and from Westford, Massachusetts.
Tell us a little bit about your seasons. How many months do you get on the water? What do you do during the winter to stay on top of your game?
During the season I only have four months of solid riding because winter comes up super quick on us here in the East. During the winter I am extremely fortunate to live 15 minutes away from Surfs Up NH. That is an indoor surfing facility and it is the best training facility I could ask for.
When was your first time wakesurfing and what was that experience like?
My first time ever wakesurfing was 5 years ago on my friends boat and from there I fell in love with the sport.
You just landed a new trick, what was it and how long had you been working on it?
Yes, I just learned a new trick which I called the “dusty bug”. The maneuver is a 540 shuvit, with a 180 body varial the opposite direction the board is spinning. It took a solid day of riding to stomp it. I am looking to get this trick dialed in for competitions.
Any contests coming up? What are your plans for the rest of the season?
Yeah, I have contests pretty much every weekend in August. I’m stoked to be going to Pro Wakesurf Tour stop 4 and the Canadian nationals. I hope to have a good time at my upcoming contests and train on the lake every day I’m not competing.
With the wakes getting better every year what gets you most excited about the enhancements that are being made?
I’m pumped the sport is growing and that I get to be a part of the industry while it’s progressing so quickly.
What is the one thing that you most enjoy about wake surfing?
My favorite thing is the feeling I get when I drop the rope and everything else fades away. It’s like being in a different world!
Other than wake surfing, what occupies your days?
I do a lot of different board sports but when there is a swell you will see me at the beach! I also give a lot of lessons. During the evening I will make cool edits/movies.
What would your perfect day on the water look like?
Good weather and calm lake with no one else on the water but the boys and I!
Who would you like to thank?
I would like to thank all of my sponsors but most importantly my family’s huge support on what I love to do!
