Monster Energy WPTC – BSR – Day 1

The first day of the final stop of the Monster Energy Wake Park Triple Crown went off today at BSR in Waco, TX. Not only were we treated to some of the world’s most progressive park riding, but we also saw some huge surprises and upsets. Going into the day the man at the top of the points board for Pro Men’s Features was none other than Graeme Burress. Right behind him was the King of the Cable, Tom Fooshee. But by the end of the day neither had managed to advance to the semifinal round that kicks off Saturday. The race for first all were expecting quickly became a waiting game. Who is in third? How many points behind are they? Can they pass either of them?
The answer to those questions: Aaron Gunn. Less than 100. Yes and yes.
Aaron is in a prime spot to get past both Graeme and Tom. With their results in Graeme and Tom have 231 and 211 points, respectively. Aaron Gunn is sitting at 151 without points posted from BSR because he hasn’t finished/been eliminated from competition. If Aaron can repeat his victory from the second WPTC stop at Terminus he will earn 100 points and take the overall Triple Crown title. Needless to say, all eyes will be on Gunn tomorrow as he takes the water – especially the eyes of Burress and Fooshee. Two other riders also in contention to take the lead (provided Gunn is eliminated with a low score in the semifinals) are Chandler Powell and James Windsor. No matter how it shakes out, Saturday at BSR is going to be one of the most entertaining days in the history of the Monster Energy WPTC series.
Aside from the men there are also close races in the Pro Women’s divisions. Angelika Schriber and Courtney Angus seem to exchange blows at each event in each format. BSR has brought out the best in each of them and Saturday is going to be another great battle. The action kicks off at 10:00 AM with the Open Women division, so be sure to head out to BSR to enjoy an awesome day of wakeboarding and fun.
