Announcing: DRUG AWARE PARTNERSHIP WITH ACTION SPORT GAMES 2018
Event Dates: 3,4 and 5 March 2018
Location: Bunbury CBD Skate Park and Koombana Bay, Bunbury Western Australia
Action Sports Games is set to return to the shores of Bunbury in March and the organisers are pleased to announce that the State Government’s Healthway has come on board as the official naming rights partner of this high energy youth focused event.
Healthway will provide $30,000 to Drug Aware Action Sport Games to deliver the Drug Aware message throughout the Geographe and South West region. The funding will help increase young people’s awareness and understanding about drugs and encourage them to lead healthier lifestyles. Drug Aware will be proudly supported and promoted through the Local Drug and Alcohol Group (LDAG) in Bunbury and Dalyellup.
“We are very excited to be part of the Drug Aware Action Sports Games, as LDAG is all about grassroots community action,” said Anne from Bunbury LDAG.
“Over the three days we will provide young people with relevant information and educate them about reducing the harm of alcohol and other drugs,” said Jani from Dalyellup LDAG.
Bunbury is an amazing place to host this event and as the City has a high youth and young adult population the Drug Aware Action Sports Games is the perfect opportunity to talk about the impact of drugs and the supports available.
“I am very happy to have Drug Aware as part of this event and have worked with the Mental Health Commission over number of years, so I fully understand how important it is to bring about change in attitudes towards creating a healthy and vibrant life,” said Tim Thirsk, Event Director.
Over the long weekend in March, the people of Bunbury and action sports enthusiast everywhere will get to see some full-on adrenalin pumping sports action.
With over $20,000 in prize money up for the taking, we already have a host of national and international wakeboarder registered to compete, along with some of Australia top Freestyle Motocross riders and an action-packed day at the Bunbury Skate park.
